You must MEASURE your child's foot.
I use foot measurements since the different sock manufacturers use different numbers for the same actual foot size

child size: 4 1/2 to 6 1/2
(fits actual foot length 4 1/2"-6 1/2")

child size: 6-7 3/4
(fits actual foot length 6"-7 3/4")

child size: 7-8 3/4
(fits actual foot length 7"-8 3/4")

older child / adult size: 8 1/2-10 3/4
(fits actual foot length 8 1/2"-10 3/4").

You must MEASURE your child's foot.
